David will lead a circular walk from the car park next to Thetford Warren Lodge, GR TL841841 [Explorer 229].  The morning will be 8.5 miles; afternoon 3.5miles.

Our route will follow St Edmunds Way – Thetford Power Station! – St Helen’s Oratory – Santon House – Santon Downham – High Lodge Forest Centre – Downham Highlodge Warren – Thetford Warren Lodge

The car park lies on the B1107 between Thetford & Brandon.  Take the A11 to the roundabout approx 2miles West of Thetford town centre.  Turn left on the B1107 towards Brandon.  The car park is at the end of a short dirt track on the lefthand side, just after a ‘pedestrians crossing’ warning sign, and beyond the golf club house approximately 1 mile from the roundabout.

Lunch is at the High Lodge Forest Centre.  This offers a reasonable basic range of food – soup & roll, sandwiches, baked potatoes etc but NO BEER is served.  Own food may be consumed on the tables outside, or on adjacent parkland.
