Wednesday A walk from Standon, Herts, 26th September, 11.75 miles.

The walk will start 10am by the church, Standon High Street, Herts, SG11 1LA. Explorer sheet 194, Landranger map 166, GR 396223

The morning walk will be 7 miles southwards from Standon along the River Rib valley, with pub lunch at the Feathers Inn, Wadesmill. The afternoon return, also along the valley, will be 4.75 miles.

The Feathers Inn provides an extensive menu, offering many mains choices, burgers, salads, light bites, jacket potatoes, wraps and ciabattas etc. all reasonably priced. (i.e. Soup starter with croutons, rustic bread & butter £3.49). Walkers with their own food may use the outside tables if buying drinks.

Directions. Standon is found on the A120, approximately 1 mile east off the A10 roundabout junction with the A120 to Bishops Stortford. Turn right into Standon High Street if coming from the A10. Turn left into the High Street if coming along the A120 from Bishops Stortford.

Parking can be along either side of the High Street, but please be careful not to obstruct bus stops. There is further street parking on past the church, round the bend.
