The walk will start from Margaret’s house (Richmonds), at GR 561 461, Explorer 209, Landranger 154, CB21 4HS. Parking will be at the house or very close by. You will be directed when you arrive.

Directions: From Cambridge take the A1307 Cambridge towards Haverhill. Linton is approximately 9 miles from the Addenbrookes Hospital. Or take the M11 south to J10 and then the A505 (eastwards) to join the A1307 towards Haverhill. Or from the east, join the A1307 from the A11, again towards Haverhill. On the A1307 go past Linton Village College, through the next (pedestrian) traffic lights and immediately turn left down the High Street – 20mph. After 1/4 mile cross the bridge and IMMEDIATELY turn left into Symonds Lane and IMMEDIATELY left again into Richmonds. Or No 13A bus stops outside Richmonds at The Swan bustop.

The Figure of 8 walk will cover both sides of the Granta valley. The morning walk be on the north side, following the river and then up to (a short stretch of) the Roman Road, returning to Linton via the water tower. – approx. 6.5 miles.

In the afternoon the route will be south of the river up to Hadstock and return via the Icknield Way – approx. 5.5miles. Lunch will be at The Crown, Linton which has a good menu, see crown@linton.co.uk
