Venue: Free (for 6 hours) car park near The, now closed, Stag pub (not the pub car park). Address: Beehive Court layby off the A1060 Stortford Road, Hatfield Heath. Nearest post code is CM22 7EB.

Take M11 south to Junction 8, go left on B1256 signed Takeley then very soon right, signed Great Hallingbury. Over M11 to T junction. Go left on A1060 to Hatfield Heath. After church, set back on right at Hatfield Heath, turn left into Beehive Court layby in front of shops & drive towards far end.

The entrance to the free car park is 20 metres to the right of the ex pub, immediately to right of the Country Wear shop, under the 6’ – 6” sign. NB. This car park is often used by other walking groups & local residents, has limited spaces so may become full. You can also park in the layby. I’m afraid there are no toilets at the start!

We’ll head north in the morning to The Green Man at Takeley for lunch & return in the afternoon through Hatfield Forest. About 6.5 miles am & 5 miles pm. If anyone doesn’t feel replete after lunch, you can stack up with more food & non alcoholic refreshments at the open air Forest Cafe (toilets here too).
