Dourdain Recreation Ground Car Park, Great Dunmow, CM6 2AA (TL 627225)
The suggested route is via the M11 leaving at J8. Take first turning on the left then the 3rd turning at the roundabout to enter the A120. In about 5 miles take turning to Gt Dunmow/Takeley. Go across roundabout then first turning at next roundabout (B1256, Stortford Road). Go straight at next roundabout then first left at next one. Straight through next roundabout (the Downs),at next roundabout turn left and car park is soon on the right.
Another route is through Thaxted, taking the B184 towards Dunmow. When this turns right at a roundabout into Woodside Way carry straight on, on B1008. The car park is on the left just after the mini roundabout.
This walk will start in Dunmow. The morning will be about 7.5 miles including going along the Flitch Way to Stebbing. The afternoon will be about 5 miles back to Dunmow. Lunch is at The White Hart, High Street, Stebbing CM6 3SQ – 01371 856383.
