A circular walk of about 12 miles from Beeston to Northill, Warden Warren and Ickwell with lunch at Old Warden.

Lunch will be at The Hare and Hounds at Old Warden which currently offers soup, sandwiches and basic pub fare.

Beeston is on the SW side of Sandy on the opposite side of the A1. A 50mph limit and extra lanes enable access from the A1 to the village.

From the A428, join the southbound A1. At Sandy, keep straight on at roundabout, ignoring left turn to town centre. Cross the River Ivel and take right hand lane, turning right off the A1 and immediately left into The Green and park.

From the B1042, in Sandy, take 1st exit from roundabout signed station and London (A1). Continue along Station Road and New Road. Turn right using the central reservation refuge to join the northbound carriageway of the A1, and in 100 metres take the first left. This brings you into Orchard Road. Turn right at the end for The Green.

Note added 6 May by Cath:

I’d like to suggest that those travelling from the south continue on the B1042 through the centre of Sandy and join the A1 at the roundabout (A1/A603/B1042) and take first exit A1 south. Within a mile, cross River Ivel and immediately take right hand lane and turn right into Beeston and left into The Green.
