Wednesday A Tuddenham St Mary
October 10, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
An easy-angled circular walk across the sands and gravels of the floodplain of a formerly much larger River Lark now partly converted into Nature Reserves.
The walk starts from the Cricket Sports Pavilion car park at Tuddenham, near Newmarket. Nearest postcode: IP28 6SD, TL738715 [click map] with a donation of £2 per car for the Tuddenham Playing Field Charity please.
Directions:
NB Sat Navs will probably direct you to a right turn off the A11 towards Tuddenham about 1km before you reach the Barton Mills roundabout. In heavy traffic you (and I certainly!) may feel more comfortable continuing on to the roundabout and returning along the A11 for 200m to another turn-off to Tuddenham. With either route, on approaching Tuddenham turn left at The Green and in 300m look for the Playing Field sign.
Route [13 miles]
am: 7 miles. Tuddenham – Cavenham – Lackford – West Stow Country Park
pm: 6 miles. West Stowe – Icklingham – Cavenham Heath Nature Reserve
Lunch: at the West Stow Visitor Centre cafe. Range of light food incl. panini and sandwiches (various fillings), jacket potatoes (various), and a few daily specials but no beer! For those taking their own sandwiches there are benches outside.
