Route: am – northbound circle via Somerton undulating around the Newmarket Ridge. pm – southbound circle via  Boxted church and sweeping round the estate of the fine moated Boxted Hall.

Directions: Hartest lies on the B1066, approximately 10 miles South of Bury St Edmunds. For the quickest but not shortest route, take the A14 to Bury, then South on the B1066 at Junction 42, though there are more direct and scenic minor road options from Newmarket!  The Crown Inn is in the centre of the village next to the church GR TL 833 525; Postcode IP29 4DH.

Please park at the far end of the pub car park.   If too full, please park considerately along the edge of the green or in the car park behind Hartest Institute – approximately 100m from the cross-roads in the centre of the village – on the right-hand side of the minor road running west towards Somerton.
