Wed A – West Stow Country Park (Fig of 8)

Our walk on 29 March will start from the car park of West Stow Country Park, Icklingham Road (daily car parking charge of £2.00). Nearest postcode IP28 6HG; Grid Ref TL800 714.
Directions: Take the A14 then A11 to the Barton Mills Roundabout. Turn right (4th exit) on the A1101 (towards Bury St Edmunds). After 4 miles turn left along minor road signed West Stow. In a further mile turn right at the sign into the West Stow country park car park.
Route: 13 miles (8 am + 5 pm) : A pleasant mix of forest, pastoral, lake and riverside walking in and around the River Lark valley on good footpaths and forest tracks.
am: St Edmund Way- West Stow – Culford school – Brockley Corner – Kings Forest – West Stow Visitor Centre
pm: West Stow Heath and King’s Forest meandering trail.
Lunch: at the West Stow Visitor Centre cafe. Range of light food incl. soup, panini and sandwiches (various fillings), jacket potatoes (various), and a few daily specials (lasagne, cottage pie, macaroni cheese) but no beer! (see menu below). For those taking their own sandwiches there are picnic tables outside. The cafe will be open for us from 09:30 to take our orders.
