The walk will start at the parking area on the bank of the River Great Ouse, map ref TL 361 712, postcode CB24 5NT.

From Over, follow Overcote Road which then becomes Chain Road to reach the parking area.  You will pass farm buildings on your left and a few bungalows on your right, and then go over a flood-bank raised section of the road, to see the parking area to your left as you approach the river. (N. B. the map ref gives the best location of the parking area, as the postcode is for the last buildings you pass as you travel towards the river.)

The walk will follow a circular route, 8 miles in the morning, 3.5 miles in the afternoon. It starts at Overcote, visits Over, Swavesey and the Fen Drayton Nature Reserve, with lunch at the Old Ferry Boat, Holywell.  After lunch, we follow the Ouse Valley Way, to cross the river at Brownshill Staunch to then return to Overcote. You might like to bring some binoculars to see what’s on the reserve lagoons and the river; and something to sit on for the coffee break. If thinking of shorts, we will walk by some nettles on one section.
