Gillian will lead a 13 mile walk starting from the car park for Anstey Village Hall.    The nearest post code I can find for this is the Anstey School which is SG9 0BY.

The easiest way to find this is to come down the B1368 through Barley and Barkway.    That said, at the time of writing Barkway High Street is completely closed for sewer repairs.   They say it will be done by 9^th August, but perhaps it would be worth a check on this site nearer the time.    (If it’s still closed, best route is down the A10 from Royston, to Buntingford, then via Hare Street, and then north up the B1368.  Very tedious.)

At the time of writing (Monday 7th August) Barkway High Street is open.

If coming through Barkway and all is well, just under 2 miles from the southern end of the village take the second turning left to Anstey.  The first turning is marked, this second one is not.   Then straight on into the village.  The car park is at the bottom of the hill on the left.   If you reach the school, also on the left, you have missed it.

It’s a small car park, so please share cars if you can.

Lunch will be at the Woodman pub, Nuthampsted after the morning walk of 7.5.  www.thewoodman-inn.co.uk  Does most things.

The afternoon will be 5.5.   It’s possible to shorten this to 2m or so.

Please expect nettles and some rough agricultural terrain, though plenty of the walk is through lovely woods and easy going.

Also please note that there is absolutely no phone signal in the Anstey Car Park, so if you are late, there is nothing I can do about it.
