Thursday evening walk from Gt. Abington
May 6 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
THURSDAY WALK – 6 May 2021 – 6.30pm Meeting point: Linton Road, Great Abington (534487 and 52o06’57” 14’19”). Travel out of Cambridge on the A1307 towards Haverhill, cross the A11 at the Four Went Ways roundabout, about a mile after the roundabout pass Acorn Garage on the right, turn right into Great Abington just beyond the garage, following the road round, passing the pub and turn left immediately after passing the Post Office cum shop (and park along the roadside). There are elections on this evening so be aware that local people could be parking cars whilst going to vote nearby (also there are ambiguous notices about temporary lane closures). The shop postcode is said to be CB21 6AB. The full route of the walk will be six miles but people wishing to do less could leave en-route to do three miles (or almost anything between three and six miles). Bring a torch, just in case, and if the weather is clear, binoculars to look at the view from the top of the hill.
For ‘Track and Trace’ purposes everyone must provide – at walk commencement – a paper with their name and contact details (which will be retained for 21 days); this is in line with the requirements for group walks of more than six persons. No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill. Please make sure that you have a face covering, hand sanitiser and any walking poles needed (no equipment or refreshments may be shared between ‘households’). In line with government guidelines members are asked to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk. More details relating to taking part in and leading Club walks in a Covid-19 environment are posted on the Cambridge Rambling Club website under ‘Members’. Places on the walk – maximum of twelve – must be booked in advance by telephone to 01223 840615 (Josephine)
