Sunday C Walk, Hampstead, London

November 18, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

The walk is 6 miles on a mixture of heath and tarmac footpaths. If you wish to shorten the walk and return earlier, it is essential to let Sheila or Eliva know. The area is hilly with the walk up Parliament Hill the most demanding but worth it for the view!

Please ring Sheila on 07907 037047 or Eliva on 07900 845890 to let us know if you will be meeting at Cambridge railway station or at Hampstead underground station. We will be taking the 9.22am direct train from Cambridge to Kings Cross then the Northern Line underground to Hampstead tube station with an expected arrival time of 10.45am.  We will return from Hampstead underground at 4.30pm, taking the 5.11pm train from Kings Cross which arrives in Cambridge at 5.58pm.

The autumn colours this year are beautiful, and the walk will take us through the village and onto the heath. Our first stop will be at Kenwood House.  There is a café with hot food and drinks, toilets and free entrance into the historic house. We propose a one hour stop here. We will then walk around the heath going past the famous bathing ponds with a second stop at the Parliament Hill café which again has hot food and drinks plus toilets.  The final part will be the walk to the top of Parliament Hill where there are wonderful views of the London skyline and then through more bathing ponds and back into the village. In the village we will view the Hopkins House which is a Grade 2 star Listed House then walk in the gardens of Keats House then past the National Trust property 2 Willow Road finishing at Burgh House and Hampstead Museum which is free to enter.

We will end the walk with a drink at the refurbished Freemason Arms then back to Hampstead underground station.
