The walk starts at 10 a.m. as usual, at Coton Countryside Reserve, Granchester Road, Cambridge CB23 7PZ. There is a car park close to the road where we will meet. To get to the start, from Cambridge you can a) take the A1313 Madingley Road, and about 1/2 mile after the M11 junction turn left onto the Cambridge Road to Coton; continue past the Garden Centre on the left and in Coton turn left, following  the High Street and then bear right into Brook Lane, which becomes Granchester Road. The Countryside Reserve is on your left, clearly marked, a mile or so out of Coton. b) Alternatively, you can approach it from Barton Road, the A603, out of Cambridge. Just before the M11, turn right following the sign to Coton. The Reserve is about half a mile along this road on the right. If you are driving in on the M11, take exit 12 and follow signs to Coton.

The walk is about 4.5 miles. We will walk through the reserve, then cross the M11, walk around field edges, and then back across the M11. There is then a choice, the full walk goes along to Red Meadow Hill, close to the firing range which can be noisy, but I was told by a soldier on guard that the range is rarely used on Sunday mornings. There is a fine view of Cambridge from the top of the hill. The short cut (which will give a walk of 3 miles) goes straight back to the car park.  After the walk some people might wish to have lunch or just coffee at Coton Garden Centre.
