Sunday C, St Ives and Houghton Mill

September 5, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Meet and park before 10.00am at One Leisure St Ives Indoor sports centre, Westwood Road, St Ives PE27 6WU.  Parking is free.  Numbers are not restricted because there is plenty of parking, but please phone Ian on 07759076103 with your name and landline or mobile number if you plan to come, for information and ‘Test & Trace’.  We will start at 10am.

From Cambridge:  Take the A14 (West). Pass the exit to Bar Hill/Longstanton. Pass the exit to Boxworth services after which immediately indicate left. Take the last roundabout exit to St Ives/Swavesey. Go over the A14. Turn left towards St Ives. This is the A1307 (the old A14).  Take the exit to St Ives and cross the river. At the next roundabout turn left into the town and follow local roads through to Ramsey road and Westwood road. On a Sunday morning local roads should be quiet.

The Walk:  We will make a 6 mile (approx) circular walk starting at the One Leisure centre and walking into St Ives then across the old stone bridge to the Dolphin Hotel.  From there we will cross the meadow into Hemingford Gray and Abbots.  We will cross the river into Houghton where there will be opportunity for eating your packed refreshments and/or taking tea at the National Trust cafe at Houghton Mill.  We will make our way back along the Thicket path to the One Leisure centre.  Toilets are available at the One Leisure centre, the Mill tea shop and in St Ives

Contact:  Ian on 07759076103, if any queries and on the day.

Additional Information:  In line with Government guidance for ‘Test & Trace’, everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details, which will be held for 21 days and then deleted.  No one should come on the walk if you feel even slightly ill.  Please bring with you a face-covering and hand sanitiser in case needed, and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households.  It is still advisable to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk, where possible.  More details relating to taking part in and leading Club walks in a ‘Covid-19’ environment are posted on the CRC website, under ‘Members’.
