Sunday C, Roman Road – Fulbourn and Wandlebury

December 12, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The walk starts at the end of Babraham Road, Fulbourn (CB21 5HR) at 10am.  To drive there, leave Cambridge on the Fulbourn Road, past Fulbourn Mill on right and through the village to a sharp right-hand turn.  Babraham Road is on the right after the first difficult bend.  Pass Cheeky Monkeys Playbarn on left and carry on for approximately 2km to end, and park on the left.  If you wish to join, please contact Gill Aslett on 01223 881254 with your name and number for ‘Test and Trace’ purposes.  There is no limit on numbers.
This is a circular walk of about 4 miles, using the Roman Road, past Copley Hill, a short distance alongside the A1307 and through Wandlebury.  This area has been inhabited since at least late Neolithic times (2,400 – 1,500 BC), long before the Romans built their road from Colchester to Cambridge.  Now the paths are broad and mostly tree-lined, for present-day walkers and cyclists..

Additional Information:
In line with Government guidance for ‘Test & Trace’, everyone coming on the walk must provide the leader with their contact details, which will be held for 21 days and then deleted.  You should not come on the walk if you feel even slightly ill.
Please bring a face-covering and hand sanitiser in case needed, and any walking poles you need; no equipment or refreshments can be shared beyond households.  It is still advisable to observe ‘social distancing’ on the walk where possible.
More details relating to taking part in and leading Club walks in a ‘Covid-19’ environment are posted on the CRC website, under ‘Members’.
