Sunday B Walk from Paxton Pits

April 28, 2013 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Meet at car park at Paxton Pits visitor’s centre, PE19 6ET, TL195 630, ready to leave at about 10 a.m.  The walk is about 10/11 miles, with a picnic lunch then drinks in The Vine pub, Buckden , or we can eat our sandwiches in the pub, providing we buy a drink each. Hopefully we will hear nightingales singing at the reserve.

From Cambridge, take the A428 to St Neots.  Turn right at the roundabout signposted to B1428 and St Neots.  Follow the road through the new estate, under the railway bridge, then right at the roundabout, signposted Little Paxton.  Follow the road, past the station.  Go over 2 mini roundabouts at the cross road, onto Mill Lane, then right at traffic lights at T-junction.  Continue to next T-junction and turn right, signed B1041, A1 & nature reserve.  Take 2nd right, signed Nature reserve, into Little Paxton Lane. Follow this road (becomes the High Street), past the Church & pub, until you reach the reserve car park.

PLEASE NOTE: As of 2 weeks ago, there was a
fallen tree across the Ouse Valley Way footpath, just north of Paxton
Pits Nature reserve. I have reported it, but it may not be removed in
time for Sunday, so I’m alerting you that we may have to scramble over
it, which will be difficult for anyone with hip problems etc.
