Paxton Pits Nature Reserve, High Street, Little Paxton, PE19 6ET

Change of Route – Walking out the route on Wednesday 28th we found the route along the river to be very overgrown.  The walk will now be a ‘dumbell’ not circular i.e. we retrace our steps in part.  Be aware that there will still be tall nettles and brambles along short distances along the way.  Distance will now be 9-10 miles.

Meet at car park at Paxton Pits visitor’s centre, PE19 6ET, TL195 630, ready to leave at 10 a.m.  Please bring all refreshments for the day.

From Cambridge, take the A428 to St Neots.  Turn right at the roundabout signposted to B1428 and St Neots.  Follow the road through the new estate, under the railway bridge, then right at the roundabout, signposted Little Paxton.  Follow the road, past the station.  Go over 2 mini roundabouts at the cross road, onto Mill Lane, then right at traffic lights at T-junction.  Continue to next T-junction and turn right, signed B1041, A1 & Nature Reserve.  Take 2^nd right, signed Nature Reserve, into Little Paxton Lane. Follow this road (becomes the High Street), past the Church & pub, until you reach the Reserve car park. Toilets are available at the visitor’s centre. The cafe should still be open for a drink when we get back.
