Ashdon to Castle Camps
Ashdon Car Park, Radwinter Road, Ashdon, CB10 2EX (GR 587419)
Take A1307 towards Haverhill. After Linton turn right to Bartlow. In Bartlow turn right to Ashdon. In Ashdon opposite Rose & Crown pub turn left towards Radwinter. The car park is 50yds on the right. Please park at back of car park.
From Ashdon we walk to the restored windmill near Steventon End, then eastwards to Castle Camps via Camps End. En route to Castle Camps we stop to inspect the remains of the site of the medieval village of Castle Camps, with its Motte and Bailey. We refresh ourselves in the pub at Castle Camps and then return via Langley Wood to Ashdon tea room with its marvellous cakes at the Ashdon Museum (open Easter to Christmas on Sundays 2-5pm).
