Take A10 south from Cambridge.  After Foxton level crossing look for left turn to Melbourn.  (Do not turn right into Shepreth)  Turn left onto road signposted Melbourn and SciencePark.  After 20 yards on bend in road turn left again into Dunsbridge Turnpike.  Green Man pub is on left.  Postcode for those with satnavs is SG8 6RA. Grid reference is 396465.  Park on either side of road near pub.

The walk is a figure of 8, 10 miles; 5.75 miles am, 4.25pm.  Explorer 209.

Sandwiches may be eaten in Green Man garden if buying drink in pub.

The morning walk crosses L Moor, follows part of the River Mel through Meldreth and woods with snowdrops to Melbourn and back to the Green Man via Melbourn Golf Club.  The afternoon visits two parts of Fowlmere Nature Reserve, Fowlmere village and climbs to Manor Farm with good views and the war memorial where mustangs were based in the last war.
