Sunday A walk Howlett’s End

March 17, 2013 @ 8:45 am - 3:45 pm

This 13 mile walk will be led by Margaret and Ron and has an 8.45 start from Harvey Rd. The start of the road is a bit tricky as it is in a layby, GR 595342. Leave Saffron Walden on the B184, Thaxted Rd, and after 3 miles there is a sign “Howlett’s End/Wimbish”, after 1 more mile there is a cottage on the left, Lantern Cottage, and we park in the layby just beyond this cottage. If going straight to the start, please by there by 9.15.

This walk is through the attractive rolling countryside of Essex, with lunch at Hempstead, a nice hilly village, where we can visit the church with the very impressive tomb of William Harvey, discoverer of the circulation of the blood in the human body.
