Sunday A walk Ashwell
February 23 @ 8:45 am - 4:00 pm
THERE MAY BE A PROTEST CAUSING THE CLOSURE OF THE FEN CAUSEWAY/LENSFIELD ROAD ROUNDABOUT BY THE ROYAL HOTEL ON THE 16TH AND 23RD FEBRUARY
This 14 mile walk led by Anne has an 8.45 car share from Harvey Road. The start of the walk and parking are in Ashwell at the Church, Mill St, SG7 5LY. Please park nearby and meet at the Church at 9.20.
The walk starts going up Newnham Hill with lovely views back to the spires of Guilden and Steeple Morden, then skirts by Hinxworth Place on our way to Dunton. We pass a community garden on our way over to Guilden Morden where we have lunch. There will be an opportunity to have a drink in the lovely community owned pub, The Three Tuns.
After lunch we leave Guilden Morden, making our way back to Ashwell via Steeple Morden, going through a lovely community area with trees and taking a path through woods with an interesting garden on our left until we reach the ancient, but well kept, path of Ashwell Street. Some of the walk is on higher ground, giving views across the surrounding countryside and the spire of Guilden Morden is in view for much of the morning.
