August 10, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Wednesday B Morning Walks
General walk information:
BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. For the summer, we will be offering one walk each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call). The number of participants in each walk is at the leader’s discretion. We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.
For latest full program see Summer program 2022
Date 10th August
Walk: Little Ditton – 6 miles
The walk starts from the High Street at No 9. To avoid too much disruption to traffic on this road due to our parking, I will be directing most/all people to park on private property at that address. For this reason, I will be stood at the roadside from 09.00. If you are coming from the Dullingham direction, head towards Stetchworth and then Woodditton. Just before entering the village, you will pass the large water tower. Follow the road through Woodditton, at the far end of which is Little Ditton (though it’s all part of the same community really). By this time, you will have passed The Three Blackbirds pub and the cross roads with the village art feature where we have stopped for coffee on previous walks. I’ll be standing by the roadside on your right a quarter of a mile further on, waiting to organise parking.
The nearest post code is CB8 9SA. Grid co-ordinates TL666587 (or more precisely TL6665058700)
Most of the walk is off-road, starting on a nearby byway that heads off towards Kirtling, skirting round Lucy Wood (place, not person), then heading to Ditton Park Wood, eventually reaching the Western end of Woodditton. A short roadside footpath section takes us to The Three Blackbirds pub where we leave the road and head NW for the most part, coming at at Woodditton church. A very quiet back lane then returns us to the starting point and the end of the walk. There will be a coffee and comfort break roughly halfway round.
Start of walk: 10.00 am
Please let me know if you coming so that I can finalise the parking details with our ‘sponsor’.
