B morning walks: Eltisley

March 13 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Wednesday B Morning Walks

General walk information:

BAM walks are between 5 ½ and 6 ½ miles and walked at a pace of about 3 miles/hr. We begin at 10.00 prompt (unless otherwise stated) and usually finish between 12.30-1.00 pm. For the summer, we will be offering one walk each week. Please let the leader know you are coming by sending them a text (or call).  We do not stop for lunch but there is normally a short break for a drink etc.

No one should come on the walk if they feel even slightly ill.

For latest full program see winter program 24

Date 13th March

Walk: Eltisley (this is a change from the previously advertised walk for this date)

Parking is on the road by The Green in Eltisley village PE196TG. Approach via the A428 travelling from Cambridge). After Caxton Gibbet roundabout, look out for left turn onto Cambridge Road (sigh posted Eltisley). If you miss this turn off on B1040, then take the immediate left turn into the Village. Follow the road until you see the Green. Park in front of play area and Pavilion.

The route will either be

  • Derck’s walk: We head towards Great Gransden, passing the airfield and on to Hardwicke, then head back to Eltisley. While most paths are good for winter walking, there is likely to be some mud or flooding.
  • Alternate: We set off on paths towards Caxton, then onto Hardwicke. We come back along a concrete farm track. .-I can now confirm that we will be doing this alternate route. Some paths towards Caxton are a little muddy, but your feet should stay dry. I recommend ‘proper’ walking boots or shoes (not trainers). A stick might be useful.

Start of walk: 10.00 am

Mileage: 6 miles

Leader’s name and mobile number: Esther (07833 732933) and leave your name and phone number).
