Wednesday A Prickwillow
June 17 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
A walk of contrasts : bird and train spotting, open fens, magnificent Ely; and a CAMRA pub with a choice of 8 cask beers.
The walk will start at Prickwillow Village Hall, in the centre of the village, map ref TL 595 825, postcode CB7 4UN. There is a parking charge of £1 per car.
The walk is 8 miles in the morning, 5.5 miles in the afternoon (it may be treated as a morning-only walk if two cars are linked, one parked at Prickwillow and the other at Ely). It starts at Prickwillow, visits the River Great Ouse taking the Fen Rivers Way, and Roswell Pits, with lunch at the Prince Albert, Ely. After lunch, we may have a short visit to the cathedral if walkers would like, to follow the Hereward Way back to Prickwillow.
The Prince Albert, ‘Ely’s Proper Pub’, formerly the Officers’ Mess for the local Militia, has a good choice of sandwiches, soup and mains; and very well kept cask beers.
