Using our ‘Walking Partnership’ funds – ideas, please!

Many Club members who have been on Ramblers Walking Holidays’ trips have nominated the Club to receive a charitable contribution: £10 per UK holiday, £20 for a European holiday and £30 for a long-haul trip. These funds must be used  on projects which help improve or extend access. In the past the Club has funded gates to replace stiles (Coton and Wimpole), as well as benches, (Coton, Toft and Wimpole). We have also paid for waymarks to be distributed to landowners to help sign paths away from roads.

The Club has approached Cambridgeshire County Council, who are responsible for maintenance of all public rights of way in the county, to identify suitable projects. But they have  nothing specific in mind. So we are now asking you, our members. Are there stiles which are difficult to cross and should be replaced by gates? Or are there sites where a bench would be very welcome? Please give a specific location as it will be necessary to agree any scheme with the landowner.

Please contact Jill with any ideas: secretary@cambridgeramblingclub.com
