Club members will be very sad to learn that David Allard has recently died. David was a CRC stalwart for many years; for decades he contributed walks to the Club when the only ramble on offer was on a Sunday. In recent years he has organised and led a range of very interesting annual London walks, taking over the mantle from Audrey Osborne.
David was a passionate advocate for the Ramblers Association, serving on the Royston and Hertfordshire Committees. He was a fount of knowledge on any issue relating to public rights of way and was recently honoured, at the age of 90, for his contribution to walking in his home county. It is perhaps fitting that David was found on a local footpath, close to his home.
