Guidance regarding Avian (Bird) Flu

In the recent RSPB magazine, there is some useful advice about the outbreak of Avian Flu across the UK, which is believed to be spread by wild birds. As members may have heard, chickens now have to be kept inside in Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Essex. As we are all out walking at different times, we thought it helpful to share the information.

“If you come across a dead bird, do not touch it. In England, Wales and Scotland, call the DEFRA helpline on 0345 933 5577.  Keep dogs under control to prevent disturbance. Keep bird feeders and bird-bath water clean.”

You might like to store the phone number to your mobile phone so that you have it to hand should you come across a dead bird.
