Parking at Wimpole Hall for organised CRC walks

Following a meeting between representatives of the Cambridgeshire Local Access Forum and the General Manager of Wimpole Hall, a special arrangement for parking at Wimpole Hall is proposed for non-NT members taking part in a pre-arranged CRC walk. Club Secretary Jill Tuffnell was at the meeting with Polly Ingham-Watts, who has recently moved to Wimpole as the General Manager. Polly explained that she has no authority to change the NT’s national policy of charging  a ‘whole property’ ticket price for individuals and families visiting the estate if they are not NT members. However, she does have some discretion to offer a much reduced entrance price of £3 to members of formally organised walking groups, provided that the visit is pre-arranged. NT members/volunteers are asked to show their cards. This charge will help support the care of the estate.

So – if any CRC group would like to take up this offer, which is being trialed for one year – they should book in advance by emailing wimpolehall@nationaltrust.org.uk . It may be useful to cc the General Manager – polly.ingham-watts@nationaltrust.org.uk. Please give details of the date, expected arrival time and the Club’s name and walk leader. We suggest you meet on the car park side of the ‘Hardwick Gate’ visitor centre. Some of your group may be Life members of the NT which can admit a non-member free of charge.

This concessionary price is similar to the charge at the NT’s Wicken Fen car park, regularly used by the Club, which is also £3.
