Abolition Plan Scrapped

Finally relief for all those members who were concerned by the plans of the big banks to abolish payment by cheque. This would have caused great difficulty, in particular for the organisers of our trips and hostelling week-ends. Not everyone has access to a computer or internet banking; so this recent decision will hopefully mean we can go on using our cheque books for many years to come.

I accept that cheques are essential for trips ut please do take out a standing order for your Club subscription of you have not done so already – over 2/3rds of members have done this and it saves work for you, me and our bank!

Club Treasurer
Yes I fully agree Simon.
We don’t really want to be handling lot’s of cheques (or cash) for £4. It’s not cost effective or efficient.
I would encourage everyone to complete a standing order form, if they have not yet done so and to send it to their bank well before 1st November.
It’s still the best way of ensuring automatic delivery of each club newsletter, without delay.
