A walk around Barrington

Today I put on my walking boots for my first trek this year to join doughty members of Cambridge Rambling Club. We met in Barrington, a village south of Cambridge where I used to once rent a cottage on its picturesque village green. It’s so gorgeous that it is the kind of place which locals find hard to afford to live in any longer as it attracts well heeled affluent commuters.

My walk today was particularly enjoyable as I was joined by my lovely friend Chrissie who has become a new member, and we have booked up for a club walking trip to in Derbyshire in April. Our leader Pauline kindly welcomed us into her home to eat our packed lunches where she spoilt us with a choice of two homemade soups.

Despite being a flat county, my iPhone EveryTrail app showed me that during the six mile walk, we climbed up an elevation of 559 meters, and down 240 metres. I had to slope away in the afternoon due to family commitments, so I didn’t complete the second half of the walk.
